"I know the others are not the same but it is an advantage that he isn't monogamous. There are others he has shared affection with that can help pull him through. Friends will be just as important though. In our culture, the whole community comes together to comfort someone who has lost family to death."
No, this wasn't death but it was potentially just as permanent.
