"You and I should chat more some time, maybe?" Rondo suggests to Tom, without looking up from Ziggy. "It might be easier for me to learn about their culture from a human perspective."
Obviously, that's not on the books for today, though.
He catches his breath as the wailing stops, and seems afraid to let it out as Ziggy reacts, those bright blue eyes meeting his. "Oh, wow," he whispers, more to himself than to Ziggy, struck by the image. The snakes in his shirt pockets are resting now, but Oloreth's little nose can just be seen beside Rondo's collar.
"Hey, you," he says to Ziggy with a sad smile. "There you are. You're gonna be stuck with me for a while."
He bends down and kisses his cheek, then reaches out for the bottle. "I don't want to trick you, so I'm going to tell you what I'm doing. Your dad says this will help, so I can either help you drink it from the bottle, or put some in my mouth and kiss you 'till you swallow it. Your call."
It's hard to tell whether he's coherent enough to parse all of what Rondo's saying, but he's positive he recognizes him, and that his presence is helping at least a little.
