She considers the idea of a party. "I would wait and see. Ziggy craves company. If he's in a better head space than today it might be a benefit for him to see others."
Aletayria at a glance might look human but there are some things that suggest she most certainly is not. The lack of fingernails, external ears, and the clear eyelids sliding over her yellow snake-like eyes are definitely alien. Aletayria always walks with Tom in the evening and this feels calm and natural to her.
"When Tom came back to Earth, and especially after Ziggy joined him, I felt those feelings. Time flows differently on our vessels. Tom experienced five years after leaving but I lived many more years in that time than he did. The gratitude that I have for this place can't be put into words."
She can only let out a breath and look out on the trees. "It feels so wrong to hope that my child didn't make a strong bond yet. It feels selfish to wish that he hasn't felt it, but I do. If the bond was still weak he'll recover more quickly and it will pass more like a human heartbreak. If it was deep, he may never be the same."
