[Continued from here]

The celebration was supposed to be short, sweet and just a greeting. However, with Ziggy and his friends and the family friends all being incredibly social things continued on. He and Mick and pulled out the equipment from the spare room. It was turning into a party by the time it was late afternoon.

As it attracted more people Tom ordered food to be delivered from the plaza, because they would need it, though the Anthean food was still there for the more adventurous. Jack also started a small bonfire in the portable fire pit in yard as it was getting toward evening and would cool to something colder than most humans might find comfortable. It would be good for there to be a place to warm up if the dancing or whatever else went on wasn't enough. Tommy had also finally come from where ever he had spent his time earlier in the day with his wife who, unlike Aletayria, hadn't adopted any human features at all. They were both simply observing from the edges since Etainia had not seen other species, and very few humans. This was a startling situation.

Cords run out front, Mick and Ziggy both with guitars, they were ready to jam with Soundwave. It was sure to attract other people since they were more or less starting a concert on the front lawn of the tiny house not too distant from the edge of the plaza.

"Indeed. I...was not myself the last time we spoke."

Worf offered Tommy a nod and then focused his attention on his mate. She was rather beautiful with slit pupils and the Klingon found her to be calm and rather honourable. His mate was certainly someone to be admired and cherished it would seem. Worf could understand Tommy being with someone such as she.

"An honour indeed, Etainia. I am Worf, son of Mogh. My species is Klingon. Your mate, Thomas he--acted like an honourable man when I was at my lowest."

Pressing up his palm to meet the Anthean's, he frowned a little but soon got the hang of the greeting. Different species had different customs and Worf only knew too well regarding that. All his years in Starfleet had shown this to be the case.

"Grief is part of life." Tommy touches his wife's arm. They only this day had a chance to mourn their children together.

"Thomas is not the unsociable man he is seen as." She tells the Klingon and it gets a glance from Tommy that says he disagrees but doesn't argue. "I am a daughter of Antha, our sun."

When their hands touch, Worf will be able to easily feel her presence. The calm and nervous curiosity that she has about the new species. Her presence, like Tommy's, is placid as a meditative state even with her slight nervousness.

"Indeed it is. In our culture grief is part of the celebration of the life. Once a Klingon dies we believe their spirit travels into the world beyond into Sto'vo'kor. The Klingon afterlife where a warrior goes to carry on their existence. Death is only part of the journey and should not be cause to feel sad or anguish."

Unlike human society where grief was often accompanied with the knowing that someone had passed. Worf had seen countless of his friends and comrades die in battle, knowing they died with honour.

"I do not believe Thomas is unsociable. He is a brave man in his own way of being individual. To stand up for what you believe in is what makes you brave."

He nodded at Etainia when she mentioned she was daughter of Antha, their son. Then, he felt something when their palms touched. Her presence was calming, almost placid and it caused Worf's eyes to widen somewhat. He had never met such a peaceful species such as the Antheans and it was strange but also very calming just being in their presence.

"It was once so for our people." Tommy tells the Klingon but Etainia adds. "We are on the verge of extinction. the loss of a single life is something to mourn now."

Etainia will linger in the touch as long as Worf allows. The longer he does, the more that comes across. First is always the shared experience of the Antheans, images and feelings of their homeworld. The placid quiet of the endless reddish desert, the cold of the air and the clear, cloudless skies. Skies that were brilliant cyan during the day and faded to a rich navy in the evening with countless starts to be seen.
