Ziggy knew this was special on so many levels and for so many reasons. He was determined to make it perfect. That included calling weeks ahead to ensure the menu that came to their table was completely vegetarian and safe for his species. There were a lot of things someone could do as a rockstar that others couldn't. The restaurant was jackets required but had several seating areas and he eventually settled on a warm room with huge windows.

That had been awhile back now. The day was here and Ziggy was a whirlwind as he prepared. He started with starry make up and added petals around one eye for a little more drama. It was finally time for the outfit he had been hiding from Minoru as a surprise for weeks. Everything was in order and he checked several times before finishing everything off with a glamorous pair of earrings and plunging necklace.

Then he was out the door and to the limo. It was tradition for the masculine to pick up the feminine for something like this but Ziggy didn't care about these traditions. He pulled up in the red limo with wrist corsage Ziggy had made for Minoru, on the suggestion of his father who said this was traditional for first important dates. With flowers in hand he clopped up to their place in his heavy heels and then rang for the apartment. He had to admit some nerves, oddly on behalf of the human more than himself.

Minoru tried to stop and count - it was the first date in general, the flowers, the limo, now the champagne. “I think we’re at four. Maybe five, if wearing a Ziggy Stardust original counts.”

He accepted the champagne flute carefully, so as not to spill before they even got moving.

“It’s fizzy.” He remarked playfully as he took a small sip.

"Not many people outside the band getting wear my custom work." Ziggy loved making outfits but only custom and for close people. More than once he had been approached to start a fashion line but it ruined the point and the aesthetic. It was about being an individual. "I know at least 2 more."

He slid back with his own glass of champagne, sitting close to Minoru. "This is a drier champagne. Some if the sweeter ones are too much for me."

Minoru felt very honored. Not just to be wearing the one of a kind suit, but to have Ziggy’s affection and acceptance.

“What are the other two?” He asked, sipping a little more.

The champagne was one of those acquired tastes he definitely hadn’t acquired. He wasn’t a heavy drinker, and when he did, it was usually lighter and sweeter brews. This had the chill and fizz of a soda but without the sweetness. (Naturally, an Anthean would prefer something less sweet.)

"I kept this suit a secret for a month or more." Ziggy grinned from behind the glass. "Don't think I'm going to ruin a surprise that is going to happen within the next hour."

Ziggy lived for surprises and wildness. There was no way he was giving this one away. Not any time soon anyway. "If you don't recognize them as surprises, I'll tell you."

He blushed, but grinned too. He had his own surprises planned beyond the bouquet of flowers, and he wasn't going to give them away either!

"We'll just have to find out all the surprises together."

But in the meantime, Minoru couldn't help but bounce a little on the seat. It was so soft, so plush, clearly made for a star. And there was plenty of space to just stretch out if they wanted to.

"Do you ride in this all the time when you go places? It's so comfortable!"

"Isn't that the point of being in a relationship? You find all the surprises together." Ziggy laughs and leans in while finishing off his glass of champagne.

"Only in New York. It spends most of the time in my father's garage." Ziggy sighs. "Cramped planes and tour buses are more common than this kind of comfort while touring."

Minoru lifted his arm and draped it around Ziggy’s shoulder as he leaned in. He was still working on his own glass.

“I’d say it should come out more, but I guess that makes sense. Saving something for special occasions makes it more special.”

And this was definitely a special occasion.

Though he wouldn’t be surprised if this thing wasn’t tricked out to some kind of Anthean specifications. It hardly felt like they were moving at all. And not once had Minoru felt like he might spill his drink.

"It's more the expense of flying it all over the world while we're touring." Ziggy sighs. "I do have a similar one in England but dad got me this one so it's special."

It was tricked out with many different things but most of it was the plushness of the seats and suspension. Ziggy poured himself more champagne.

"You look amazing in this suit." He touched the lapels and laid his head on Minoru's shoulder now that his arm was around him. "You should let me dress you more often."

Minoru blushed at the compliment. “Thanks... it’s so different from what I usually wear. But it feels, not so different, somehow - the way you made it. It’s amazing.”

It really was a marvelous fashion statement. And Minoru wasn’t sure how to really describe it. It was tailored to accentuate his body, but loose enough to feel as comfortable as a familiar set of scrubs.

“I mean, is there anything you can’t make?” He squeezed Ziggy gently in the one-armed hug.

"I'm used to making things for the stage. You can't spend hours under hot lights in something that wears badly." That was the truth of why his designs were comfortable. He knew the importance of having to wear something for hours in all sorts of conditions.

"Something ugly?" Ziggy comments with a giggle and downing his champagne. "We're almost there. You ready to cause a stir among all the elites?"

He knew they would for so many reasons. The clothing alone was going to be a riot among all the black tie style attire usual to the restaurant. Let alone his notoriety and the young man on his arms. While he was here 100% for Minoru and to make his first date beautiful, the impact of the stuffy would be an extra piece of special.

“No, you could never do that.” Minoru agreed with a smile, “never in a million years.”

He took another drink from his glass and raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t sure what Ziggy meant, but he was about as ready for that as he was the date in general. Which, was actually more and more ready each passing minute as he started to relax.

“Don’t suppose that stir involves climbing out of the sunroof?” Probably not, but once he spotted it, he couldn’t help himself. “I want to try that once we get back to my place, at least...”

Naturally.

Ziggy looked up at the closed sunroof and started laughing. Downing his champagne he set the glass aside.

"Today's the day if you want me to join you. I'm not in a skirt for once." He would not have any problem climbing out the roof. "We'll have to take our shoes off to save the paint job though."

He's leaving it up to Minoru to decide how they get out of the car.

The minute Ziggy said that, Minoru’s face lit up. “All right!”

He slid his feet out of the dress shoes before he’d even finished the exclamation. While he could probably climb out in a way where his feet didn’t even touch the car, it was better safe than sorry. And this gave him a lot more options. Sliding? Rolling off? Jumping? Adding a flip?

“If you wanted to keep yours on, I could carry you down.” He grinned. “Unless that would be too jarring.”

He wouldn’t flip or roll if Ziggy said yes, obviously. He vaguely remembered the spin at the album release party being too much for the Anthean.

Ziggy slipped his dress shoes off too and shook his head. "I'm agile enough to do it on my own. I'm afraid of falling from height, not activity."

Ziggy clarifies as the limo comes to a stop. Reaching up he opens the sunroof. "Who's out first??"

“Unless we want to climb back in to get them, I’d say the shoes!” He laughed.

Minoru didn’t know what kind of crowd might be waiting at the restaurant for a glimpse of a celebrity, but the first thing they were going to see would be some fancy shoes being tossed over the side.

“After that? Well, they always say ladies first.” He bowed politely.

"You don't throw shoes this nice on the ground." Ziggy laughed as he stood up and hopped up into the sunroof, legs still dangling into the limo.

"You're so sweet." Then he climbed out on the roof while waiting for Minoru to join him. He was looking around and no one seemed to see him yet.

If they hadn’t seen Ziggy yet, they’d certainly see him after a flurry of movement caught their eyes.

Minoru pushed himself out, giving Ziggy a gentle squeeze on the roof of the limo. The excited look in his eyes had completely replaced the nervousness, as Minoru was back in his element. This was why the suit was tailored as it was - because Minoru proceeded to drop, tumble, jump and flip down to the ground, right around where his shoes had landed. (And yes, he landed perfectly on his feet.)

Now, THAT turned heads!

He straightened up, and held out a hand to welcome his date down, however he felt like getting there.

Ziggy giggled as Minoru tumbled off the car. "Don't go splitting the ass of your suit. I can't carry my sewing kit in this tiny purse."

He was teasing of course. Taking the offered hand, Ziggy slid down to the ground. Something easy given his height. The urge to kiss Minoru's cheek being replaced by a nuzzle into his neck, a habit the Anthean was quickly building.

Still holding hands Ziggy slipped on his shoes and looked out on the space between the limo and the restaurant door. There were people staring and he whispered. "Get your shoes on quickly or we're going to get stopped."

Once someone recognized him, the star knew he would have to wade through people to their date.

Minoru couldn’t help but giggle just a little as he was nuzzled.

He politely offered the Anthean a balance point with that hand, only bending down to collect his shoes when Ziggy had finished slipping into his. But it wasn’t until the warning that Minoru made quick work of it.

Their entrance had definitely attracted attention. Stunned silence turned to murmurs, and the inevitable, ‘Oh my god! It’s Ziggy Stardust!’ as they made their way up the sidewalk.

"Just keep walking. Even if I get stopped." Ziggy whispers as they start toward the door. Minoru can get their table so that Ziggy can bee-line once inside.

Inevitably, Ziggy is stopped. He lets Minoru go so he can sign things though he keeps walking toward the door. He was trying to be polite and sociable but get to his date.

"You sure?" he barely had time to ask before the small crowd of people flocked to Ziggy like vultures. A cacophony of voices all shouted at once, 'Ziggy! Over here!' 'Can I get your autograph?!' 'Can I get a picture with you?' 'Who are you wearing?' 'You're amazing! I love your music!' among many other things even Minoru couldn't make out.

Taking the cue, he hurried inside to the hostess.

"Table for, uh... Stardust? Please." he asked politely, gesturing back to the open door and the commotion the restaurant was probably expecting. Hopefully, this would take some of the pressure off Ziggy once he got inside.

It was only after the hostess started leading him back that he took the time to look around. The lighting, the ambiance, the plates, the high-class look of all the other patrons... there was no doubt about it. This restaurant was in an entirely different league from anything Minoru had ever been in before.

"Yes." Ziggy nodded and chuckled before walking into the crowd of people. He's polite, talking quickly with each one as he signed something or posed for a picture. A few even got a kiss on the cheek for compliments or something touching. However, Ziggy is used to this and able to continue on his way toward the doors.

Eventually, Ziggy does make it in and apologizes as he joins Minoru at a table by the windows. "I didn't keep you waiting too long?"

He's happy but there are people staring. For one of many reasons, all of which Ziggy ignores as he puts his arm around Minoru to give him a half hug. "Wine?"

Minoru smiled up at Ziggy, partially standing to greet him in that hug. He would have stood to do the gentlemanly gesture of pulling out the seat if the restaurant staff wasn’t already doing that sort of thing for everyone.

“No, not long at all!” He insisted. “I barely finished gawking at how incredible this place is.”

Which seemed like a good enough reason for other people to stare too, so he didn’t think too much about the extra eyes that were now fixated firmly on them.

“I haven’t ordered anything yet. Just the water.” He answered. He wasn’t a big wine drinker, so he was open to recommendations. It’d be difficult to just get a bottle for the table, though. Ziggy would likely go for a dry wine over something sweeter, for obvious reasons.

Ziggy sat with him, used to the chair pushing in and the way people tried to tend to you whether you wanted it or not. Ziggy nuzzled his forehead against Minoru, careful of his make up, once they were seated again.

"I couldn't one of my favorite people have less than an amazing first date." Ziggy knew why the people were staring and he shrugged them off as usual. There would probably be some idiots with cameras and probably in the news tomorrow.

"Wine?" Ziggy would drink either way but a place like this you could get small glasses of wine and it was worth asking. "I know... well a friend of mine knows.. the chef here. The menu tonight is vegetarian and very exclusive."

Minoru would learn the ins and outs of dating a famous person soon enough. For now, he was perfectly content with the gentle nuzzle.

"You'll have to tell me what's good. Certain wines pair with certain things, right?"

The wait staff was quite attentive and would gladly make suggestions as well depending on what the couple ordered. They'd just set down the specially-prepared menus and Minoru hadn't even had a chance to look at it before Ziggy revealed yet another surprise.

"It's vegetarian? All of it?!" Minoru could barely remember a place where he wasn't searching through an entire menu looking for the one or two things (besides the usually-boring salad) that fit that niche. And it had to be even worse for an Anthean, with an even more restricted diet. Tonight, everything was fair game!
